What We Do

Members of CASA are involved in vessel agency, husbanding services and act as manning/crewing agents for leading ship owners and managers. CASA members also provide various other services to ship owners/managers in the ports of Sri Lanka and at off port locations.

Through regular dialogue with stakeholders; Government institutions, regulatory  bodies and other government and private sector  agencies, CASA seeks to effect an interchange of ideas and information, represent and advocate the views of the association in all official fora  and shape the future of the industry by investing in education and training for its members and working with maritime training academies to train Sea Farers.

CASA is the voice of the Shipping Industry in Sri Lanka

Objectives

The Primary Objects of CASA are defined in section 3A of the Memorandum & Articles of the Association as:

  • To effect an interchange of ideas, information and business methods as a means of increasing the efficiency and usefulness of members
  • To take such steps as may be necessary or conducive towards the betterment of the interests of the industry & of its members
  • To represent and advocate the views of the Association to the Government Authorities concerned.

Executive Committee

The functions of the association are directed by an Executive Committee that is elected annually at its Annual General Meeting. The elected Executive Committee co-opts two additional Members, with experience in specialized areas of Shipping, not already represented by the elected members to the committee.

Involves maintaining a sound relationship with all stakeholders including but not limited to CASA Membership, Cabinet Committee on Economic Management (CCEM), Ministry of Ports and Shipping, Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Customs and Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Controller General of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka Navy, Ministry of Defense and other related agencies both in Government and private sector.
