The Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents, formerly known as the Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents, Ceylon Association of Steamer Agents, and the Ceylon Shipping Committee, in that order, was established in 1944.

CASA was formed as an Association in 1966 and was known as Ceylon Association of Steamer Agents. CASA was renamed subsequently as Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents and was incorporated as a Company in 2000 under the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982, re-registered under the Companies act No.7 of 2007. The name was changed again in 2015 to Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents.
CASA, as an Association, is now in its 56th year and is The Voice of the Shipping Industry.
Membership now stands at 141 Company Members – with 138 Ordinary Members and 3 Associate Members.
